Q could have picked a better place, thought Church bitterly. He'd seemed like a nice enough person. But that little brat, Patrick.... surely Q must have had too much time on his hands to create something like that.
Standing away from the main party on a small hill, Church contemplated the situation. He was happy about the weapons they had obtained, even if the company wasn't his first choice. He had spoken with Potter soon after the other Marine had arrive.
"Watch the other officers. They're none too friendly towards Marines, especially McLean, but they are the ones most likely to be attacked. I suspect any betrayal by our newfound friends will be directed at the weakest of us, and that's everyone except for Ko'Vor, you, and myself. Take care that Smith is never alone for too long. Not only will it look very bad if our commanding officer dies, he's the most decent officer I've met."
"Yes, sir," Potter had replied. "I'll alert you if I suspect anything."
Potter was a good soldier. Reliable, loyal, everything Church could want in a right-hand man... except Fish was already his right-hand woman. Church wondered how they would react to each other when they met.
"Mr. Church?" asked Smith's voice. "You ready to move out?"
Church nodded. "Of course, sir. No one's more eager to get out of this hellish place than I."
"I wouldn't refer to it that way in front of the natives," said Smith, retreating back to the main group. Ko'Vor passed him, coming to a halt at Church's side.
"Wonderful place," the Klingon muttered.
Must not be a morning person, thought Church. "Yes, very. Any idea how much longer it is until we get to wherever we're going?"
Ko'Vor shrugged. "No, but we'd move faster if it were just those of us who are fit for such a quest. The slower ones make our journey much longer."
Church nodded. "If I were in charge, I'd-"
Their conversation was terminated prematurely as the rest of the group began walking towards them, the journey resumed once more. Ko'Vor muttered a goodbye, which Church returned.

By midmorning the Federation officers were more than ready to get underway. Kirk watched as Church pointed out specific weak points in the tactical formation of the company of men that were following behind. There was a feeling of reassurance with in Kirk that he had two Marine officers and Ko’Vor around for the upcoming battle. He knew nobody in the Federation was better trained for this type of warfare, even though there were some in Starfleet that would disagree.
“Captain Church,” Kirk said stepping into the conversation between Church and Potter.
“Sir.” He replied quickly with a snap in his voice.
“I would like you and the other Marine to take point,” Kirk said feeling bad he had not had time to meet this other Marine yet, “ I was informed this graveyard we are supposed to attack is just beyond the crest of that hill,” Kirk finished, pointing to the hill in the distance.
“Of course sir.” Church replied taking Potter off to the side to inform him of the orders.
Walking quickly Kirk began to give out orders and get everybody back on their feet to begin the march. It was not long before everybody was on their feet and ready for the march ahead of them.
“Move out.” Kirk shouted to the front where Church and Potter were standing.
Taking up the rear Kirk walked slowly backwards, peering at the crest of the shot hill behind them as the company of soldiers began to follow behind. He noticed their pace was much quicker and it seemed they were looking to catch up with the Starfleet officers.
With in an hour’s time the company of soldiers had caught up with the Starfleet officers and began to fill in the ranks, sending swordsmen to the front while the archers remained in the rear. A lone man ridding on horseback went up and down the formation of his men. Seemingly pleased he pulled back to the rear where Kirk and Smith had been talking about what they would do when they got back home.
“I feel today is a good day to die.” The horse rider said in an upbeat done.
Kirk and Smith took a look at each other and almost cracked a smile; they would have never thought to hear a human saying such a Klingon saying. Kirk wondered if Q had installed the Klingon mentality into these people, or if war like people shared the same sense of death all over the galaxy.
“We should be ready and able to attack in a few hours,” The horseman said, “once we cross that hill we will on a glorious battlefield.”
“Good to know.” Kirk replied.
Hours had passed and the small army stopped atop the small hill and looked down at the valley below. To his surprise he saw an army already formed into columns and ready for the attack. How did they know? Kirk thought.
His question was quickly answered as Smith let out a single letter, “Q.”
Sitting on a black horse was Q, dressed in all black armor and yielding a strange black sword. Taking his horse up and down his lines he could be seen yelling something to his troops and then suddenly he lowered his sword and the horde of men behind him charged up the hill.
“Archers ready!” The horseman yelled, “Take aim…”
Kirk felt a breeze hit his back as he took aim. They had the advantage of having the wind behind them, and with that the ability to take out a fair amount of Q’s soldiers before they had to engaged in hand to hand combat.
“Fire!”

OOC aw shucks i get to miss this one
IC
"Why you ask? Do you really think that John guy is fit to be a king?" SHe shook her head and Daya smirked, "yeah me either, hes not hte realy King Patricks father, Richard, is." He said in a more whispering tone, moving over to the fireplace provided for them, "We will stay a couple nights, i need to look around, i need you to keep Patrick occupied, in any way possible. "
Daya started a quick fire and tossed on a few logs, and in a matter of moments had the room heated to a more suitable temperature. Smiling at Katie as he looked at the blanket and pillow, he was about to say something but shut his mouth. "Change if you wish, they have night clothes in the cubboard there, and they are deffinatly warmer than what you got." Daya turned around to allow her as much privacy as possible, and glance back to see if she was changing or not, "No peeking" Daya smiled and turned his head back to the fire, which he started poking and such to get it hotter in the room. <Tag Katie> ~~~~~
2 days later, Daya had already made his rounds around the caslte, finding all the hallways and a few secret passages leading to and from the dungeon. He never made it into the dungeon, guards were posted there the entire time, he would have to do something to get thrown in again. On this day, Daya had requested to take a horse ride out into the country for a few days, thought he knew it mean leaving Katie in the castle, he had to see if anyone was still faithful to the real king, and if this was like any other kingdom, that would be in the forests.
"Ensign, i know you can handle this, while i'm gone, talk to Patrick, see how much he knows about his father, see if he will help or not. gain his trust" Daya said just before he was gonna leave, a horse saddled and stocked with provsions for 3 days. Daya gave her a quick hug, and handed her a slip of paper, concealed by the hug.
Daya then hopped up on the horse and quickly sped off, heading out the gates, which he knew would never welcomly open for his again. He raced away from the caslte, and looked back just in time to see a couple arrows arch through the sky, turning the horse sharply, the arrows narrowly missed hitting him. when he reached the tree line, he slowed the horse and got off, walking next to it.
WHen he came into a clearing, he heard, nothing, and knew this was the right place. He stopped the horse and tied the reins to a nearby tree. sitting down he awaited what he knew would be coming

Riz had been following the group when they came to the top of the hill. She looked down and saw a lot of men, and heard their leader yell a letter of the alphabet. She didn't understand what the letter had to do with this, but she went along with it for now. She stood back with the armed combatants, waiting for her turn at the action. She felt a bit nervous, but pushed that feeling back.
The order was finally given, and they were rushing foward like a wave that had just been released from the flood gates. Their forces met the enemy forces after fighting not being shot. Riz was glad for the armor she wore. She remembered the first time she put it on, but shook that memory away knowing this wasn't the time or place for that. She drew two of her swords, and stopped some guy from trying to kill her.
Suddenly one of her swords was knocked from her hand, and she drew the third, while losing the second one. She drew the fourth sword trying to stop this guy. She found he knocked both swords from her hands, and she drew out her throwing stars. She threw not needing to aim, and thought she got him. She had never been more wrong. He used his swords, whipping them around in circular motions, to get the stars to go everywhere but their intended target, making a few of the other guys around them drop down in pain. She was glad none of them were from her side of this war.
He started to laugh, but stopped right in the middle of it. Riz felt tingly, and wasn't sure what was going on. She looked around, and noticed a few of the men had stopped fighting. She tripped over something trying to get away from the one guy, who had disarmed her, and tried to locate her own swords. She looked up and noticed a shiny shield in front of her.
She gasped as she saw herself, or rather lack of her image. She saw nothing but the armor she was wearing, and wondered what was going on. ~What did they do to me?!~ She thought furious.

""We will stay a couple nights, i need to look around, i need you to keep Patrick occupied, in any way possible. "
"Why me?" Katie asked.
"Because your a girl and he's a boy."
Katie scrunched her nose at the idea. She didn't relish the idea of getting into the affairs of the locals. She felt selfish and only wanted to get home. It seemed to Katie that nobody else had the same yearning she had for her own bedroom.
Katie watched as Daya began a fire in the large room. She felt the flames begin to warm up the room.
"Change if you wish, they have night clothes in the cubboard there, and they are deffinatly warmer than what you got."
"I'm fine." Katie replied stubbornly.
Two days passed rather quickly and Katie found Daya getting ready to leave as he said he was going to. Outside the castle Katie stood to send Daya off. He was dressed as if he was going off to war. Katie was the complete opposite and now was wearing a long flowy pink dress. She felt like a princess in a fairy tale sending off her knight into the unknown.
Katie clutched the piece of paper in her hands and watched as Daya road out of the castle walls. She felt uneasy as the only person she knew in the castle had now left her alone to defend herself. Katie didn't understand the desire to start the uprising Daya thought was needed, but she was going to have to follow orders reguardless if she liked it or not.

Katie walked back into the castle. She suddenly felt alone inside the large castle. Everybody around her was a stranger and this made her feel more uneasy. Katie finally found a private spot to read the note that Daya has given her. Reading the note she found comfort in his short note, but the uneasy feelings returned as she finished the note.
Katie looked up from the note and found Patrick heading her way in a quick pace. She quickly folded up the note and tucked it under the long sleeve of her dress.
"Would you like to go for a ride today?" Patrick asked.
"Sure." Katie replied.
"Wonderful. I shall fetch you later on then."
Katie was about to reply as Patrick turned around and walked away. She was constantly surprised at the way these people talked and acted. She could feel the sexism all around her. There didn't seemed to be any other females in the castle that she could see. It was that or they were locked in their rooms all day long. The thought of being forced to remain in a room all day long sent a shiver down Katie's back.
Katie took this moment to look again at the note Daya had given her. On one side was his note and on the other was a map. He had told her to meet him at the large X marked on the map. She was also told to bring the man from the dungeon.
"I just want to go home." Katie said with tears in her eyes.

Daya opened his eyes as heard the trees rustling above him, he rolled to the side just as a foot landed where he had once sat. Getting into a crouch, he stood ready, waiting for the fight to begin. "What are you doing here?" the man in front of him said, as he stood tall, squaring his shoulders out. "King Richard sent me" Daya replied, easing up just a little, only to jump backwards as another figure threw a punch, this one shorter than the other, and obvioulsy quicker. "Richard is dead" he said in a mild squeaky voice, more like a weasel than a human.
"If that is so, then how did i know to come here and wait?" he asked the weasel man. "uh...." the weasel replied, looking at Daya, confused. "Lucky guess, doesnt mean anything" the larger man said, looking more like a bear. "My name is Daya, King Richard sent me to gather help from his trusted friends in the forest, at this exact location, what need do i have lie?"
"thats easy, to kill us" Bear said, lunging at Daya, who sidestepped and blocked a punch from Weasel. "If i wanted to kill you, you would be dead, you leave yourself open." Daya replied, tripping weasel over his foot. "you may know how to fight, butyou also know how to lie, Richard is dead"
Daya stopped fighting and let Bear tackle him, pinnng him on the ground. Weasle reached a punch over Bear's shoulder, Daya groaned as he glared at the weasle man, who shrunk away before Daya could retaliate. "Very well, i can see that you are not the trusted friends that Richard spoke of, do with me as you wish" Daya looked up at Bear, who stared back at him, both breathing hard. Witha grunt Bear rolled off and stood up, allowing Daya to stand. "If you speak the truth, where is Richard's son buried?"
"Why put in a box, what does not belong there?" Daya replied, and watched as the weasle man looked up at Bear, mass confusion on his face. "So, you do know Richard, come with us" Bear answered, turning around and walking back to the forest, where he jumped up into a tree. With a closer look Daya realized he had simply grabbed a lowered vine and was pulled up by others in the trees.

Arrows roared over the heads of the foot soldiers toward Q’s advancing army, sending several soldiers to the ground. The oncoming army seemed to care little about the arrows, as they did not bother to raise their shields when the arrows came screaming down from the sky. The knight on horseback was pacing the archers like a composer keeping his orchestra all on key, he would shout out commands with the same monotone tempo.
“Ready.” Archers would pull a new arrow out and slide it along each of their long bows, and then in a fluid fashion every archer would draw back on the arrow until the fletching was nearly touching their chin.
“Aim.” Each archer had the distances already calculated in his head as the pace from the horseman continued. Pointing the arrowhead skyward the archers no waited only for the command to fire.
”Fire!” The command finally came sending the deadly volley of arrows skyward on a perfect arc, killing and wounding more men as the arrows came bound for the Earth by gravity.
Clutching his long bow, Kirk knew he was not as high trained with the weapon as the noble man’s army, but he sent more than his fare share of arrows toward the oncoming onslaught. He knew that in a matter of seconds the enemy would be with in weapons range for the first line of the attack, the pike men.
Church stood close to the front with several Starfleet officers beside him, Potter stood on the far side of the group creating an almost protective bubble around the officers. As any good field general Smith stood in the midst of the Starfleet officers reading the men for battle.
“Pike men advance!” The mounted soldier shouted. With out delay the pike men lowered their pikes and began to walk close toward the oncoming army. Taking advantage of the sudden movement Kirk rushed up to the front of the line to stand with his fellow officers. He had many arrows left and he intended on using them before he had to reach for his sword.
Looking down the line it seemed anybody else with a long bow was thinking the same thing. Each man clutched their long bows with readied arrows, with in a moment’s notice they could strike and send down whom ever broke through the pike men’s line.
“Steady!” Kirk shouted down the lines as the pike men engaged the on rushing army. Behind them the archers unleashed another volley of arrows toward the now static position. With mastery marksmanship the arrows landed all on the enemies side of the line. The sound of screaming men came charging from behind the Starfleet officers, the foot soldiers were now charging into battle.
“Charge!” Kirk yelled as he waved forward with his arm just as the elements of the noble man’s army caught up with the group of Starfleet officers.

"Hy Cravok! And let doose the logs of war!" chuckled Q as he waved his sword aimlessly. No one seemed to be able to touch him, and whenever someone tried to engage him in personal combat, he parried their sword or pike and drove his own weapon through their heart. This would be so much easier if I didn't need to worry about anyone else... or if I had Weta, Dvinski and Fish here. With modern technology.Potter was trying to wield a sword, but it was much too heavy for him. He dropped it and took out a shortsword. Church had noted all of the Starfleet officers were unable to carry the broadswords - they were much too heavy, and left even Church and Ko'Vor tired after a few minutes with them. The natives kept swinging despite their swords' weight. Ko'Vor seemed to be doing fine with his, now that his blood was boiling, but everyone else had chosen smaller, lighter weapons than broadswords. Church himself had always favoured smaller swords, and was using two now to get closer to Q. He couldn't have cared less about Patrick's people, but he did need to keep Kirk and Smith alive, and if Q could be convinced there were better games to play... "Q!" yelled Church over the battle noise. Q's head snapped around, a smirk on his face. "What ho? A personal challenge! By all means, I accept." The omnipotent being jumped off his horse and strode toward Church, an invisible bubble pushing all other combatants out of their way. "No, not really what I had in mind... Q, can't you think of a better game?" asked Church. Seeing Q's frown, he continued, "its not that this is a bad idea, but, well... a little primitive, don't you think?" Q shrugged. "To me, your entire civilisation is primitive." "Not according to what you told Captain Picard a few years ago." Q blinked. "Oh. So I did. Hmmm... well, what's your idea? Remember, its not worth playing if it doesn't have the possibility of death, destruction, and general chaos." Church nodded. "I've got a wonderful idea regarding a certain engineer... you know, of course, that McLean and I hate each other desparately, and-" "No, I've changed my mind," said Q. "I'll tell you what - you kill me, or rather this body I'm controlling, and I'll let the rest of my army sort of... melt away. Fair enough?" He always need to be in control, can't ever have anyone else come up with any good ideas, thought Church bitterly. "Right on," said Q cheerfully, charging at Church with his broadsword. The invisible bubbled collapsed, but Church and Q never stopped crossing blades, and never recieved more than the occasional scratch from another warrior. The entire time Q carried on a one-sided conversation. "So how are you and that executive officer of your getting along? Captain Williams, am I right?.... I liked a human once, but she was too - oh, watch that mace - too arrogant.... her loss, of course. And you should have heard what Q was telling me the other day....... have I told you I'm married? Little q will be quite wonderful when he's all grown up...... I think Q's looking after him right now. Which reminds me, I have a little party in the Shelliak System when we're done here......." Church gasped as Q's broadsword shattered one of his shortswords, taking off part of his artificial appendage with it. Q went right on talking. Church fell back, nearly loosing his balance as he parried Q's strong attack. Then the Marine punched Q in the face with the jagged edge of his artificial arm. The circuitry inside the metal casing was still alive with bio-electrical current, and it blew Church away from Q, lifting him into the air. Q's face crumpled in, and he somehow let out an annoyed sigh as his face lit up in flames. "I suppose that counts, though you were a horrible coversationalist..." With that, Q's army, already much less numerous than it had been when the battle began, melted away quite litterally. The battlefield soon became a very wet swamp with bodies floating in knee-deep water. Church lay across a rock, his face inches from the water. His eyelids were not completely closed, and he groaned slightly, not wholly concious.... (OFF: I think I left plenty of time for everyone else to have a go at the battle. If not, just yell at me. )

Lorian was sure that his time had come, he could not keep fighting four enemies at the same time. He was already bleeding profusely and his eyesight was becoming a lot more dizzier. He saw two enemies advance on him and at that very second Lorian decided to stop fighting. It had always been said that before you die, you will see your life flash before your eyes. It has happened many times to Lorain, but this time it seemed to take forever. He saw his youth, playing with his brothers and friends. It then transformed to his time at the Academy and meeting Daisy the love of his life and the birth of his son. Then uburbtly it stopped, Lorian's eyes opened and saw that life still flowed through his viens. He and his crew were surrounded by a swamp. Q's army was no where insight, but he could see dead bodies. "What happened?" Lorian asked turning his attention to his officers. He saw that everyone of them was injuried. Some much worse than himself. "Church defeated Q," McLean said, which caused Lorian's eyes to land on his marine officer. Lorian as quickly as he could walked up to Church and tried to help him up. His body was frail, but the marine as stubborn as he was tried to stand on his own feet. That didn't work and he accepted Lorian's help. "Is everyone ok?" Lorian asked," ok good, now lets get out of this water and onto some dry land." Once Lorian had made it to dry land he carefully placed Church on the ground. As he did so, Lorian's legs gave out and he fell as well. His wounds had made him frail as well, but he refused help. "Help eachother first, its just a scratch," Lorian said smiling at Riz. She of course was not convinced, but did as she was told. "You can't give me orders," Jonathan said walking up next to Lorian," so you can't refuse my help." "I could, but I don't think I have the strength to do so," Lorian said coughing up a little blood," look what you made me do." "I saw you, Lorian, I saw what you did," Jonathan said and then Lorian's eyes closed and he slept. (OFF: Mr. Church...wait I mean Simon, great job moving the mission along. By the way very good post too. )

Daya was in awe as he arrived in a literal tree city, filled with thousands of people, all of different origins and ages. He continuously stopped to look at something that caught his eye, "wow, this place is amazing" he said as he watched a couple young children freely playing games, seemingly without worry.
"How long have you lived like this?" He asked Bear, who kept walking, obviously unhappy about having to show an outsider his home. "Were almost there" He said gruffly, and Daya continued without saying anymore.
They stopped in front of a handsomely made hut, built between two large oak trees. They stepped inside and Daya stopped, looking around he saw the inside was much different then the outside, the 4 people standing near a table, were all battle ready, as if expecting an army to charge in from the castle.
"Who is this?" one of them asked, a rather young man, apparently in charge. "He says Richard sent him" All 4 men looked up at him simultaneously. "Can it be?" an older man asked, in his late fifties, a battle veteran. "Its true, i have seen him, and he is well. but he is in trouble." Daya went on to tell his story about meeting Richard in the prison.
"And what do you sugggest outsider?" The older man asked, distrusting of Daya. "I promised him i would help restore him to his kingdom, and that is what i intend to do."
"Thats impossible, John's best men can kill us 7 to 1, and they outnumber us." the older man said, all the while the younger man looked intently at Daya. "Sit down Borris" he said as he stood. "John sent out most of his "best" men after my companions, who have gone to search for more of these" Daya said, pulling out the crystal he had around his neck. "Where did you get that?" the young man said, holding his hand out, into which Daya placed his crystal. "The prison gaurd" Daya replied smirking.

The battle was long and was hard fought. In the end it took only one man to stand up to Q to stop his entire army. The wounded were spread around the battlefield in a haphazard manner, falling where they had been struck down. Kirk looked over the battlefield as a mysterious fog began to creep in. It was as if the very Earth was calling an end to the bloody conflict.
Smith laid on the ground breathing heavily, an arrow shaft protruding from his side. It had been luck shot, one in a million, but it was the one that counted. The arrowhead had pierced just enough to his side of the rag-tag armor Smith had chosen to cause the loyal First Officer down to his knees.
“His pulse is growing shallow.” McLean said from his knees, his fingers pressed against Smith’s neck.
The gathering of the Starfleet Officers was completed when the two Marines joined as if to watch their fallen comrade pass on. Out of the corner of Kirk’s eye he spotted several of the Noble Man’s soldiers heading their way. Kirk felt relieved that they had only had one casualty, but even a single casualty was too much for the Admiral.
Heads turned as the soldiers approached, each of the men took a second to look down at Smith and then their eyes connected with first Kirk, then to the rest of the crew. They shared in the sorrow, for they had many more of their own wounded.
“You have all fought with bravery,” The soldier started, “My men found these scattered about the battlefield. I believe these are what you have been after?” He said holding out his hand to review a handful of rainbow colored gems.
Looking down upon the gems Kirk slowly extended his hand out to receive their prize. The gems slid down the soldier’s hand in slow motion, as if they defied the laws of gravity. Each gem sparkled in the remainder of the days light as each hard corner caught its own private ray of light. With each stone falling into Kirk’s open palm he counted the gems, finding there were just the correct amount to get the entire crew home.
“Sir, we need to get him somewhere so we may treat his wound.” McLean said breaking up the silence of the moment. All eyes looked down on Smith, his complexion was slowly changing with the loss of more blood.
Poor Commander Smith. Q’s voice boomed over the foggy battlefield.
“Q!” Kirk yelled into the open space, “We have done what you have wanted, now send us home so we may give this man the medical attention he needs.”
I find it hard to believe that you think just because you have found these interesting looking gems that those are the gems I was speaking of. If anybody deserves to go back it would be Captain Church. He is a worthy adversary.
Q.
Yes Q.
Stop playing with the humans.
…Alright.
With a flash of light Kirk and crew now found themselves on the bridge of the USS Darkhawk. Junior officers looked on with disbelief at the senior officers. Each had a question on mind but seemed to be too shocked to ask.
Kirk looked around the bridge, as did the other officers. He was shocked to be on the bridge, he last remembered being in his office on DSB. There was no explanation for his being on the Darkhawk.
“What is going on here?” Kirk asked clearly confused with the situation.
“You all suddenly appeared just now sir.” Replied a timid junior officer.
Kirk again looked around the bridge again and spotted the confused looks on everybody’s faces, “What is our current position in relation to Deep Space Beta?” Kirk asked.
“One day’s travel as Warp 5.” The helm officer replied.
“Take us home.” Kirk replied scratching the back of his head, “Commander you have the bridge.”
“Aye sir.” Smith replied from the back of the bridge.
Walking quickly Kirk passed into his ready room. Nothing was as he last remembered it, and then it hit him; it hadn’t been his ready room in months. Commander Smith had been in Command of the Darkhawk since his promotion to Admiral.
Sitting at his old desk, Kirk sat back and tried to remember how he had gotten aboard the Darkhawk. After moments of deep thought no answers were coming to him so he gave up and spun his chair around to face the situation map on the back wall. Kirk jumped in his seat as he came face to face as an old-fashioned arrow sticking out of the wall next to the wall console. Pulling it from the wall Kirk examined it with a child like interest. Everything about the arrow screamed hand made and old, turning the shaft his eyes opened wide as he read the branded letters on the side.
To Commander Smith from Q.
