Leo was sitting down nibbeling at his food when the men attacked them. In a blink of an eye Leo and Church had leaped up and put thier swords at the 2 nearst gaurds throats.
"Lower your weapons or these two will have it!" Leo shouted.

The gaurds looked at each other and slowly lowered their weapons on the floor.

Leo walked over and picked up a spear. He pointed it at Patrick.
" You, stand in the middle." He motioned to the guy who yelled and pointed with the spear." You guys, over at the wall with your hands in the air."

The sudden outburst took McLean as well as the rest of the group by surprise. Church and Potter sprang into action subduing the first two guards they came across. It seemed that Church and Potter had some how managed to single handedly bring down the castle, but their victory was short lived as more troops stormed the grand hall followed by a single unarmed man.
"You two are indeed worth adversaries," A man dressed in dark red clothing said as he turned a corner at the top of a set of stone stairs, "but your attempt has been in vain." he finished, slapping his hands together as more guards and archers appeared as if out of nowhere.
Slowly the man walked down the stairs followed by several knights. McLean looked on, still seated at the table. It seemed to him that this man had an endless supply of men at his disposal.
"Do not be foolish, surrender now. It would be a waste to end the lives of two very talented warriors."
"Stand down." Smith finally said.
"What?" Church questioned.
"That's an order Marine." Smith replied quickly adding a serious tone to his voice.
It took only a couple of seconds for Church to stand down, followed quickly by Potter. Hope for their escape seemed to fade out of McLean's mind as the approaching noble man looked over Commander Smith with interest.
"You are the leader of these men." The noble man asked.
"I am." Smith replied.
"You are a King?"
"No."
"General?"
"No."
"Then what are you?" The noble man asked now confused at Smith's rank.
"I am their Captain." Smith said looking over his shoulder at his crew.
"So you are a sailor then."
"Of sorts." Smith replied.
"I have a need for a strong sailor who can lead my navy into grand victories. Would you be that sailor?"
"I am afraid not," Smith said, "We are...not from these lands and we wish to go home. Nothing more."
"They are on a quest," Patrick announced, "That is why I have brought them here, they seek your help Uncle."
"Do they," The noble man said with a large smile on his face. It was well known through out the lands that he enjoyed people whom were in his debt, "What is your quest then?"
"We are to collect certain stones and return them to," Smith paused as he tried to describe Q to these people, "to a powerful wizard."
"Your speaking of the being known only as Q?"
"Yes." Smith replied. He was shocked the man know of Q.
The noble man walked around the room in silence as he looked over the crew. He found them to be less than impressive at first glace, but he knew based on the power and speed that Church and Potter had attacked that these were indeed powerful people. Finally the noble man stopped at the youngest of the group and the only female, Katie Anderson.
"It is bad luck to have a female on board a ship." The noble man stated as he looked over Anderson's attire.
"We have found women to be an asset in our land." Smith replied.
"I doubt that." Came the sharp reply from the noble man.
Again the noble man retreated into silence as he walked back and forth in front of the group. McLean noticed he seemed to be thinking about something but it seemed he couldn't put his finger on what he wanted to say.
"I will help you, but under one condition."
"Uncle?" Patrick said pointing to Anderson.
"Two conditions then. I will supply you with armor, horses and weapons for your quest. In exchange I want you to bring me the stones so I may present them to Q."
"What is the other condition?" McLean asked.
"It appears that my nephew has taken a liking to your female, she stays here until your quest is complete."
All eyes fell first on Smith then onto Anderson. McLean could see the look of fear on her face and it instantly reminded him of his daughter. He would never in a million years agree to the deal, but Anderson was a Starfleet officer and a grown woman. If they were able to find the stones and present them to Q they would all be flashed back home and none of this would have mattered.
Smith looked at each one of his crew mates and then finally spoke up, "We agree to your terms."
"Good," The noble man said. Just as he began to turn around to leave a man came up behind the noble man and began to whisper into his ear. The noble man nodded his head as he agreed with what the other man was saying, "It seems we have two of your travelers downstairs. We shall free them and allow them to rejoin your quest. My men will show you the way to the armory."
McLean stood and could only watch as the noble man walked away from the group with Ensign Anderson in tow. With the noble man's departure the rest of the guards quickly began to file out of the room one by one not letting down their guard.
"Lets get this over with so we can get the hell out of here." McLean said looking at the group.

Rizoru had joined the party to see what was going on, and noticed she came in late. She was hoping to have some fun with a sword fight, and found the fighting part over.
"Well, that's what you get when you storm the castle late, no fun at all," she muttered to herself, and took a seat to enjoy the rest of the activities. She had snuck into the event, and hoped no one would notice her. She liked taking people by surprise, and had planned on letting them know she was there, eventually. Suddenly someone noticed her.
"Well, a new face, good, so long as you aren't an enemy of mine," the person said, and looked a little mischievious. She wondered what she had gotten herself into this time.
"No, I'm no enemy, just a travellor. So what is going on here?" she answered quickly, and was filled in. On hearing the part of women being bad for ships, she found she was glad she was dressed like a man. She didn't plan on missing out on this little quest, and smiled. She got up with the rest of them, and went to the armory.
Once there she noticed several pieces that would have been wonderful to have. She remembered the last swords she had owned, and was grateful they were in her pack now. Instead of choosing from the armor on the walls, she pulled out her pack. She strapped on her armor, and then took out her swords to put them on. Two of them went on her waist, two on her shoulders, and one was put straight across her lower back. She made sure to conceal her throwing stars, and put a dagger in her boot. She didn't want anyone guessing she was a girl, and was glad no one had said anything as of yet.
She followed the crew out of the castle and toward the docks, ready for the adventure to begin.

Daya continued to talk with Richard, slowing gaining his trust. "So, your saying your son does not know your alive?" Richard shook his head and went into a slight depression. "We WILL help you Richard, i promise that"
Just as Daya had finished, the mountain man barged into the dungeon, "You and You, get up, come here" He said grumpily, pointing at Daya and Kirk, Daya slowly placed the crystal down his shirt front and stood up, follwed by Kirk.
They slowly walked towards the man, not entirely sure what to do. "Cmon, move you scum, i dont have all day" The remarks brought forth a quicker walk from the two, and soon they were out of the door, with quick look back, Daya nodded at Richard, who stared at the two as they left.
"Where are we going?" Daya asked, walking next to the mountain man, who rolled his eyes and didnt say anything.
They were brought to a rather large armory and their shackles were removed, "You been given your freedom" said a man wearing a dark red clothes, "Your friends are waiting for you at the stable, i know about your quest, and agreed to help, that is all you need to know"
Daya looked at Kirk, who shrugged his shoulders, "You may pick any armor you wish as well as any weapons." Daya's face lit up as he heard this, and he immediatly went towards the armor, grabbing a leather pair of pants and putting them on, then he grabbed a chain-mail shirt and small steel helm. Grabbed a pair of leather boots and glove, he dressed the rest of himself and stood up, looking at Kirk, "Well, what are you waiting for?"
<tag Kirk>
Daya turned away and went to the weapons, grabbing two daggers, and two short swords, swinging them around to get the feel of the weight. with a smile he sheathed them both and stood waiting for Kirk.
~~~~~~
The noble man stood, leaning against the doorway, next to the mountain man, "He knows how to use these, he will be one to watch i'm afraid"
Ko'Vor kept his head down in the firghting, he could easily take out just as many men if not more, than the marines, but they were handelling the situation.... if he were to get up they would notice he wasnt....quite...humam. he stayed seated, looking down at his plate.
when the more guards arrived he grabbed the bottom of his cloak, ready to whip it off and start fighting after all. but instead of further conflict it seemed an agreement was patching out. Only it was one no one was confortable with... he decided to speak.
"If we allow you to present the stones to Q, he wont let us go will he? and if we leave Anderson here, what our garantee we will be allowed to get her back? i think we should re-negotiate..."
the man looked angry at Ko'Vor..."and what do YOU suggest?" he said.
Ko'Vor stood up, everyone else on the table shuffled in there seats, they knew he was not going to fight, but they knew he was ready to. they also knew however he wouldnt let Anderson be left.
"she is as much a part of this crew as any man. she is given the same rights. and she is needed with us if we have hope of completing this mission. If we give you the stones we will not complete out mission. if we give you her we will suffer due to it. we need every one of our crew, we work better together. Everyone."
the man stood for a while. "show your face sir. i do not negotiate with people who dont address me properly... you have a point, but i want to see your eyes... i want to see your a man of your word."
there wasnt a sound for a while... Ko'Vor didnt uncover his face either. "you may take the stones, as long as you tell Q we have given them to you to give him... but you may not have Anderson". Ko'vor decided.
"and what rank do you hold on this ship?" the man asked.
"I am captain Ko'vor... i am the same rank. but i am from a different ship, i mearly work with this crew."
"two captains on one ship? How odd.... i will agree to tell Q you gave me the stones. but i want the girl to remain."
at least there was progress being made.... "captain Smith, i will leave this choice to you." Ko'Vor said, sitting back down. he could feel a sigh of relief come from some people that he didnt expose himself.
"Captain Smith, I will leave this choice to you."
Lorian looked at Ko'Vor and then at the other members of his crew. They had been together for a little over a year now and they were the closest thing that he had for a family. Could he actually leave a member of his crew in a foriegn strange land?
It had already been decided that Katie would stay, but Ko'Vor was adamate that she should go with them and being honest wiht himself, Lorian agreed. He knew that Patrick's uncle was referring to Jonathan and Daya and Jonathan could make the decision for him. Then again, Jonathan was not captain of the Darkhawk crew anymore, he was. There was no one in the galaxy that knew the crew better than he.
"What say you, Captain?" the man said turning around once more.
Lorian looked at Katie intently hoping that he would give him a sign. After a few more moments of thought Lorian responded...
"She will go with us, we are a crew and I will need my helmsman steering my vessel."
"No, she needs to stay with us," Patrick yelled.
"Child if you want you can come with us?" Lorian said agiated at the boy. He wanted to get this over with and get back home.
"You decide child," Patrick's uncle said and left the room. Lorian looked at his crew again and everyone headed towards the armory.
Post by Jonathan Kirk on Apr 23, 2006 23:46:00 GMT -5
Kirk looked over Daya who was already decked out head to toe in medieval armor. There were times that Kirk thought his friend would have been better suited as a Marine instead of a Starfleet officer.
It appeared to Kirk that Q wasted no time in getting all the Deep Space Beta senior staff members together on this planet. Kirk spotted Church and another Marine he had not met yet getting their armor and weapons together, then he spotted Smith and Ko'Vor engaged in a conversation with the man everybody only knew as obvious lord of this manor.
Tensions were rising between Smith, Ko'Vor and a young man. From a distance all Kirk could make out only a single reference, 'she'.
"She will go with us, we are a crew and I will need my helmsman steering my vessel."
"No, she needs to stay with us," Patrick yelled.
"Child if you want you can come with us?" Lorian said agitated at the boy. He wanted to get this over with and get back home.
"You decide child," Patrick's uncle said and left the room. Lorian looked at his crew again and everyone headed toward the armory.
Walking over Kirk made his way to Smith who seemed more than surprised to see him.
"What's going on here?" Kirk asked.
Smith quickly explained the situation and the concerns both he and Ko'Vor had for Ensign Anderson's safety. Kirk had to agree that he did not like the idea of leaving a crew member behind, especially in these primitive settings but they had no choice. If they went back on their word the noble man would waste no time in sending then lot of them into the dungeons, and that was a place Kirk wished to spend less time in.
"Leave her here." Kirk said.
"Admiral?" Smith replied shocked by the sudden order.
"Commander," Kirk began, "You know just as I do that the good of the many out weights the good of the few. If all they want to do is keep her here to make sure we give them their stupid stones than I say that's fine."
Ko'Vor looked as if he was going to argue but did not say anything. smith looked visually upset up he also said nothing and continued gathering gear and supplies for the march ahead of them.
"Daya." Kirk said as he looked around for his friend.
"Yes?" Daya finally replied as he tried to stuff more knives into this belt.
"I want you to stay here and keep an eye on Ensign Anderson. I do not like leaving her here, but an escort would probably ease some of the fear from the crew."
Daya nodded and ran off back in the direction they had come from.
It's not a phaser, Kirk thought as he picked up a long bow and a pack with arrows, but it should do. Then he quickly picked up a set of chain male, a leather strap for his wrist and a belt with a short sword and its scabbard already attached to it.
"Now you look like warriors." The Noble man said coming into view, "I thought it would only be proper to see you off on your journey."
"That was mighty nice of you." McLean said from the back of the group in a sarcastic tone.
"I thought I should inform you that I am sending a company of my finest swordsmen, and archers with you. Just in case."
Just in case of what? Kirk thought as he eyed the advancing troops.
"Godspeed." The Noble man said before turning around and walking back to the dark crevasse in which he so suddenly appeared.
"Lets get a move on." Kirk said.
OCC: There is a reason why we are leaving Anderson and Daya behind. It will all become clear as the story continues.
Ko'Vor couldn’t say he agreed with Kirks decision but Kirk had become a trusted friend to Ko'Vor over the others. he was the only one that showed respect at first meetings almost a year ago.
he went to argue but smiths face did the arguing, he looked like he had been stabbed, his authority drained momentarily.
Ko'Vor went off to where everyone was arming, and took only a single dagger.
"is that all your going to take?" the lord joked. Ko'vor stood silent and then slowly turned..."this, this is all i need to take sir... and i may not even use this when it comes to it".
the lord looked uneasy but tried to keep the jokes coming "why, do you have some sort of super human strength then, you don’t look strong". Ko'Vor raised his head slightly. just revealing part of a head ridge. but not enough to be sure of. "listen, friend, when i go onto a battlefield, you wont have to worry about the weapon i carry." he said. The lord walked away at this point. Ko'Vor turned back slightly to his crew to smile, then he went back over to Kirk and Smith.
Riz realized that no one was following her out, and she walked back in to see what was going on. She found horses were being brought out, and she realized that they weren't going by boat. ~What the.... If they were going by land, why didn't they just say questing? Oh well, this is going to be some adventure no matter how we travel.~ She thought and smiled as she made her way to the now coming group.
She got help getting on the rather large horse, and was glad the man who helped her hadn't realized he was grabing a girl by the waist. She had been able to keep her sex a secret so far, and she was glad. With everything they needed, they said their goodbyes, and started out.
It had been a long time since they started out, and Riz wondered when they would stop. Her backside was starting to hurt. They decided to take a break, and she was glad. She had someone help her down, and she was glad there was someone taller than her to help her out.
"Why do we need the munchkin around?" She heard him mutter, and sighed. ~I guess he doesn't realize how good my ears are, oh well.~ She thought, and moved to see how she could help. It was getting dark, and it looked like they were stopping for the night. She realized they would need some wood to make a fire, and went to gather some sticks.
She had been away for a bit, and when she came back had several sticks in her arms for the fire. It hadn't been easy finding them, and she noticed they had a fire going. She wondered where they got the wood, but decided not to ask. She put her pile of sticks nearby in case they wanted to use them.
"Wood? I thought you went for food," she heard someone say. She groaned.
"Okay, I am going for some now. It shouldn't take as long as the wood," she said and moved off to find something unsuspecting for dinner. She decided to use her throwing stars if something small came along, and her sword if something bigger came.
She came back, and noticed that they had a couple of squirrels cooking. "Here, you can add these rabbits to your collection," she said and moved to the outter edge of the group to think about what was going on.
Leo was looking through the armoury in the castle for some weapons he liked. He glanced around and saw that they were going to be going with a company of archers and swordsman.
Hey turned around and picked up a longbow. It was a long time since he used one but it was like shooting a phaser, you never frogot once you learned. He tested the drw force and was happy with it. He also founad a short sowrd to go with his bow. Next he went and found some formfitting leather that wouldn't hinder his movment.
He looked over at church and saw himm getting a wicked looking sword and gloves on. To each his own then, he thought. He picked up a quiver and filled it up with all the arrows that would fit.He also put a couple dozzen in another quiver and hung that one over his shoulder with the other one. He put the bow around him so its string went around his chest.
After he was done he went over to captain church.
" I'm ready sir," as he stood at ease beside him watching all the other people get their own weapons and armor on.Waiting to get the move on.
He reached up and rubed his ears throgh the small headband hiding his poiuted ears hoping his eyebrows didn't show off to visable. He was glad that he was half human and his brow ridges didn't show as much as a true romulan. He smiled one of his rare smiles.
Standing while the others finished getting their equipment squared away McLean felt his stomach begin to grumble. Why couldn't we just finish eating before we got ready to go, he thought as he placed his hand over the his stomach as if to silence it.
He found it odd to have the Admiral back around the group, for he hadn't been their direct commanding officer since the Darkhawk's maiden voyage. As he watched the Admiral work and direct the crew McLean found himself with a feeling of hope and for the first time he felt they would be able to make it out of this alive.
Placing the sword he had picked up into it's sheath McLean watched the two Marines as they stood alone and away from the rest of the Starfleet officers. He hated how superior they acted around the other officers, as if they would all die with out them being there. It was true that the Marines worked everyday for the battles that may or may not come, but they never seemed to remember that all the engineering and security members had gone through the same basic training and had to do monthly drills to remain sharp. But still they stood, far away from the crowd and far away from any respect McLean would ever give them, especially Church.
"Lets get a move on." Kirk said leading the way.
McLean fell into line and continued his thoughts about home, his children and the space station he knew was falling apart with out his constant care.
As soon as the group walked out into the open gates of the castle McLean heard the sound of marching steps behind him. Looking behind the group he saw the company of men the Noble man had send with them as 'back up'. He could see in the Noble man's eyes how much he cared for the stones they were supposed to gather for Q. The Noble man had greed in his eyes and feared whatever orders he had given to the company of men for whom were now following behind.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dusk
McLean dropped his equipment and slumped to his knees before falling hard on his face in the dirt. He was exhausted and by the looks of it everybody else in the group was just as bad. Nobody was talking much with made it all that much easier for McLean to relax, but sleeping was out of the question. Along the hill top directly across from the one Church and Kirk had picked out was the company of soldiers.
The hilltop looked as if it was set ablaze by the sheer number of camp fires that had been started. Silhouetted figures could be seen walking around on their hilltop, setting up a few forward posts no doubt, McLean thought. Defense was the number one priority for their smaller group and even though those were supposed to be allies across the way nobody trusted them.
Smith walked through the group and passed out bread from a knapsack he had taken from the castle, it wasn't much but McLean was happy that it was something. Some had ventured off to find small animals to kill but McLean found little energy for that. He sat and simply enjoyed the soft bread he now held in his hands.
Daya stood back as his friends left the caslte, standing near Ensign Anderson. "why do you remain?" he heard the question raised from the noble man, who asked as if to reassure himself. "I stay to protect my friend, sir...." "you may call me King John"
"Very well m'lord" Daya said bowing, "I've been informed that you came from my dungeons, tell me, how did you manage to get in them?" "Well, thats a stroy your knights could tell i think, you see i was walking with my companion, and your knight came galloing from behind. The one in charge swung his sword at me as we walked by. I confronted him and we ended up in there"
John looked down at Daya, and then over at the knight by his side, "is this true?" He asked, and the knight sullenly nodded his head. "I apolgize for my knights crude actions, i hope you will forgive him?" Daya nodded in return and turned towards Katie, "My dear, isnt it time for you to get some rest?" he asked, ina loving tone, trying to pass them off as lovers, much to both Patrick's and Katie's surprise, he looked at Katie and gave her a 'say yes' look,
"Sorry about that, but i needed for the two of us to be together" Daya said, sitting her down on the bed, "Patrick's father is in the dungeon, and we are gonna break him out" he whispered to her, all the while checking the doors and windows. "what are you doing?" Katie hissed, looking at Daya as he moved around the room. "Searching"
"For what?" Daya looked back at her, and shrugged, "anything"
Lorian didn't want to stop, in fact he wanted to get this little mission over with as soon as possible. Yet his own stomach fought his resolve. Once he called for them to stop, things sort of seemed to slow down.
They would camp here for tonight, but by daybreak the group would be where they were supposed to. Lorian did feel a bit resented at his friend for taking over his crew, but he didn't share this with Jonathan. His rank supercede his and he did have more command experience, but Lorian did know these people best.
"Jonathan why did you leave them?" Lorian asked knowing that he could trust his officers completely.
Jonathan just looked at Lorian and Lorian had the impression that he didn't want to talk about the topic. So he dropped it and went to sleep, he didn't feel like eating much anyways.
<Next Day>
Lorian was the first to awaken, he had the sick feeling that this would not be a good day. Trying to shake this feeling away, Lorian made the fire once again and prepped a light breakfast.
By the time he was done everyone had waken up and had started to eat.
"Eat quickly, we will leave in fifteen minutes," Lorian said to the group and went ahead and scouted on.
Riz woke and found several members of the crew were already awake. She started forward to see what was for breakfast, and saw it was nothing she was able to eat. She had hoped breakfast would be easy, but she realized she had to fend for herself. ~Ok, no problem, its not like I am not used to this.~ She thought, and got up to go search for breakfast. She heard about the time limit, and groaned inwardly not wanting any of them to notice her. She had been invisible so far.
She had done her best, but for some reason today she was off. She came back and noticed they had started to break up camp, ignoring her stomach she pitched in, and they were ready to go soon enough. She noticed someone had saddled her horse for her, and she was glad that she didn't have to find a way to do so. She thought about riding with someone else, since the animal was very large, but she decided against it.
When everyone was mounting up, someone came behind Riz and put her in the saddle. She thanked the person, and grabbed the reins looking forward to getting underway again. Soon they were moving through the forest again at a nice pace.
It had been a little while since they had started out, and Riz could hear her stomach by now. She hoped no one else noticed it, and did her best to blend in. She was very short, and wondered why no one had said anything about her height. Suddenly someone rode next to her.
"New?" the person said, and she only nodded making him chuckle. "Don't worry, in due time you will be known as one of us," he said, and she didn't respond.
They suddenly arrived at a white gate which looked like it had been there for centuries. She noticed a sign, but didn't move her horse closer, and she knew there was only one way down by herself, falling. She wasn't about to do that to read some sign.
"My dear, isnt it time for you to get some rest?" he asked, in a loving tone, trying to pass them off as lovers, much to both Patrick's and Katie's surprise, he looked at Katie and gave her a 'say yes' look.
"My apolgises sir, allow us to accomidate you in our two best rooms," John nodded his head at a pair of guards who stepped forward to show them to their rooms, "I think one room will be enough, m'lord. i would like to spend one last night with my darling, as i know your nephew has he eye on her, and being royalty he gets what he wants" Daya said, once again surprising Katie, who's mouth hung open for amoment, Daya hurried her along as the guards took them to a room.
"Why are we going to break out Patrick's father? That wont get us home any faster." Katie replied in a whisper.
Katie watched as Commander Daya didn't seem to hear her. Either that or he didn't want to hear her. Sitting on the bed Katie picked up a pillow and blanket then set it on a chair.
"Those are yours." Katie said.
Making her way back onto the bed she quickly wrapped herself up in blankets. It was cold in the castle and the clothes she had traded for weren't nearly as warm as her uniform.
