Daya had heard most of the message that came through, and knew that Kirk was not gonna like this.
"Mr. Daya, decloak the ship and go to Red Alert. I want you to supervise all battle station preperations since the crew is new to this ship. I want everybody to know what they need to do. Hand out phasers and prepare Borg defensive shield modulation."
Taking the ship into Red alert, He left his station and went to the armory. =^= Daya to all security personel, report to the armory at once=^=
When Daya arrived, there was a small line of about 4 people standing waiting for him, the rest were on their way. He started telling them what they should do during battle stations, and after wards gave them new orders
"You four, you will be leading seperate teams, I want one down in engineering, you may not need to fight, if you dont, give as much help as possible. Daya was handing out phaser rifles, and a few phaser to his team leaders. Looking in the armory, he saw some chest plating. "this will help" he said as he handed them to his leaders.
"I want the other three teams to be ready on a moments notcie, as soon as we hear were they are coming from, you will be going there." Daya stood, holding a rifle in one hand, and a phser in the other, he had on chest plating, and looked much like a foot soldier or the 21st century.
As he finished handing out phaser, he now had 4 teams of 5, and with him was 6. he took his team back to the bridge, and put is weapons down, working on his console once more.
"Sir, security is ready to go"
Daya then began working on the Borg defensive shield modulation, after a few minutes, he was satisfied.

"Have we found out who attacked us yet captain? What measures are we now taking to ensure we don’t come under another assault?"
Malachi looked up from the console he was working at and payed attention to his FO.
"It is impossible to assume that we should be able to stop another attack from occuring." He started. "However, I can assure you that this Station will be fukky prepared for another attack, of any kind. She fared up well in our first conflict with our attackers, and I see no reason why she shouldn't again. The attackers in question are a species that go by the name of the Metrons, they belong to the Political Group the Metron Consortium."
<TAG Ko'Vor>
"Indeed, you know your history. Do you know how much involvement the Klingon Empire has had with the Metrons? We are literally two hours away from Empire space. Has any contact or conflict ever been recorded?"
<TAG Ko'Vor>
"Curious, the Metrons made initial contact with the Fedetration around the same time as they made initial contact with the Empire..."
Malachi was cut off however as the console he had been working at flashed.
"What the..." He started. "Computer, show Darkhawk flight pattern - main viewer." Caspian ordered. "What's he playing at?" He muttered.
"Ensign, open a channel to Kirk. Priority One." The officer nodded and moments later an image of Kirk flashed on to the screen.
"Captain, may I enquire as to where you are taking the Darkhawk. You have altered course considerably, is there something I should be aware of?"

Kirk had been going over some information on recent Borg confrontations in the Alpha Quadrant and it appeared the Borg were sending large number of small ships into Federation Space. I guess they now plan to take over the Alpha Quadrant slowly, Kirk thought as he started to look at another PADD. Kirk started to worry when he finished reading a tactical report from the USS Enterprise stating that the Quantum Torpedoes have been causing less damage to Borg ships.
"It seems they have improved their hull strength," Kirk mumbled to himself.
Kirk got up from his chair and walked over the engineering station to speak with Lieutenant Mathews about the condition of engineering.
"Report Mr. Mathews."
"Sir, I'm getting reports from all stations that we are battle ready in engineering. Warp core shielding is in place and holding, impulse engines online, and Warp core reactions is running well above standards at 98% efficiency."
"Excellent, keep up the good work Lieutenant." Kirk said patting the on the back.
Looking around the room he noticed alot of scared faces his attention stopped on the only female officer on the bridge, Ensign Anderson. Since going to Red Alert she had been more quiet than normal Kirk, wondered what was wrong.
"Ms. Anderson," Kirk said stepping to the side of the helm, "Whats your report?"
<Tag Ensign Anderson, and all the questions that follow>
"That is good news. How are you holding up?"
"I completely understand," Kirk said with a smile trying to ease her worries, "I guess they didn't teach this at the Academy."
"Carry on Ensign."
<End Mass Question Tag>
Kirk looked up in time to see Commander Smith stepping off the turbo lift and onto the bridge.
"Tactical, deflector control, and sickbay are ready sir." He reported.
Kirk just nodded as he continued his tour to all the stations. The mood had become more serious once Commander Smith made a battle report. Shortly after Smith arrived back on the bridge Commander Daya arrived with his team of security officers. Kirk watched as they handed out phasers to all bridge members.
"Sir, we are getting a Priority One message from Deep Space Beta." Ensign Anderson announced.
"On screen." Kirk said turning around to face the main view.
"Captain, may I inquire as to where you are taking the Darkhawk. You have altered course considerably, is there something I should be aware of?"
Kirk was rather shocked at how civilized Captain Caspian was being. He expected Caspian to bark orders and be completely disrespectful to him.
"Since you ask nicely Captain," Kirk said with a smile, "Captain we have a problem," Kirk said instantly changing his seriousness and tone, "The USS Razorback reported to me twenty minutes ago the Borg have destroyed both construction sites. The Razorback should arrive in the next 40 minutes, ETA on the Lion Heart is unknown at this point. We are heading back to the station right now, we should arrive in approximately 30 minutes."

As Kirk was speaking Malachi immediately began to run Long Range scans, sure enough there was no sign of the construction sites but he couldn't pick up any signs of the Borg either.
"Very well Captain. Thank you for the update. I am going to have to terminate communications now as I have to insitgate a station Lock down. God Speed Captain. Caspian out."
Malachi closed the channel and took a deep breath. He was genuinely concerned. Both Construction sites destroyed...
Ko'Vor turned as if he was going to speak to his CO but Malachi ignored him, he didn't have the time for the Klingon's Warrior insight.
"Ensign, put me through to both Sections A and B, all decks." Malachi ordered.
"Aye Sir." A few buttons pressed and the Ensign raised her hand to signal he was on.
"All hands this is your Commanding Officer speaking, I have yet to meet most of you, and I do not know anything about but a handful of you, but I do know this. Whatever happens in the next few hours, I will get to know you all." Malachi paused, how did he inform a Starbase filled with people that they soon might be dead or worse... assimilated. "There is no easy way to inform you of what is going to occur, so I shall just go ahead and do it. The USS Darkhawk has made contact with ships from the other Starbase construction sites, who have engaged the Borg. I am initiating a full Lock down of the Starbase, no comms will be permitted. Transports will be ceased until further notice. Civilians will be secured in the Storage Bays in Section B which are reinforced titanium, all non essential personnel will be transferred to Cargo Bays in Section A which is also reinforced. Your head of departments will soon receive orders as to what to do and whether you are required or not. This is all for now, all I can say is keep calm and do not..."
However Malachi did not get to finish his sentence as the Starbase shook violently, the lights flickered and went out and many of the consoles on Command exploded, causing sparks to jump and small fires to start.
Malachi along with the rest of the staff on deck was thrown to the floor, he smacked his head against the floor and felt the warm trickle of blood on his forhead and moving slowly down his head.
He sprung to his feet however, injuries could wait. "Status report!" He yelled.
"They came out of no where Sir." Came the response from Ko'Vor, literally no where."
"How far into the Lock down procedures did we manage to get?" Malachi asked as the Starbase rocked again, less violently now as the shields took the strain.
"78%" Came the response.
"That's not enough, is it still going?!"
"Negative, the procedure and buffers exploded when the first attack initiated."
Caspian swore as he was very nearly thrown to his feet again.
"We are being hailed Sir."
"On Main Viewer." He ordered.
^We are the Borg. Resistance is Futile. We will add your technological and biological distinctiveness to our own. Resitance is Futile^
Caspian motioned his arm across his throat to single to cut off the comm.
"Fire a volley of Quantum Torpedoes, load Rotating Phasers and fire on my mark." Malachi paused. "Mark!!"
"Little effect Sir!" Someone yelled over the noise and choas.
"Fire at will!" Caspian ordered.
The Starbase violently lurched and yet another console exploded sending a female Warrant Officer flying across Command.
"Damage and casualty report!" Ko'Vor ordered.
"Section B is unable to evacuate any more Civilians, many are trapped in Sections 4,5 and 6 of the Promenade. Section A is reporting no major casualties. Sheilds are at 45% on Section B but A is standing firm on 86%."
"They'll die..." Muttered Caspian. "It's happening again..."
"Captain?!" Ko'Vor roared over the noise of yet another barrage of Borg attacks. This was shortly followed by more weapons fire from Beta but it was having virtually no effect.
"All hands. This is Captain Caspian. I am evacuating Decks 1 to 25 of Section A, this sheilding is to be transferred to Section B, all personnel on these decks are to immediately move to lower the decks. IMMEDIATELY!" Malachi paused. "That includes the Command crew, MOVE OUT!"
The officers grabbed their phasers and began using the transporter in groups of two, soon Command was left empty, all but Caspian and...
"Ko'Vor, I gave the order to evacuate." Malachi said.
<TAG Ko'Vor>
"Stubborn Bloody Klingon." Caspian yelled over the yet another volley of fire.
=^= Deck 26 to Command. That's everyone Sir =^=
"Understood, Caspian out."
"Last chance." Malachi said turning to Ko'Vor.
<TAG Ko'Vor>
"It's never good to die, but whatever. I am transferring sheilds now!"
"Sheilds on Section B are now up to 78%, they will make it assuming the Borg are stopped within the next 15 minutes." Ko'Vor stated.
"We have ablative Armour on Command, that should last for an hour, maybe less!" Malachi yelled. "Take Weapons control Commander, I will handle the Auto-Defenesive drones."
"Aye Sir... Wait Sir, I am picking up another Warp Signature. It's the Darkhawk, but she has company!" Ko'Vor yelled.
An image of the Defiant Class vessel sprung on the screen and sure enough another Cube was close behind.
"Auto-Defensive Drones launched. They're are targetting Cube's weaknesses and analysing!" Malachi yelled.
The Starbase shook violently again, this time the lights flickered and went out completely.
The Emergency lights slowly flickered on but this was the least of their problems.
=^= Hull Breach - Command =^= The computer sounded. =^= Ten minutes until Oxygen depletion =^=
Caspian swore again and ordered the Auto-Defensive Drones to ram the Cube on the same spot one after the other. It had the desired effect. The Cube stopped firing and on the Main Viewer small explosions could be soon across the hull of the Cube. "Fire all weapons!" Caspian ordered.
The Cube exploded in a dazzling array of colour, however the victory was short lived.
=^= Intruder Alert, Intruder Alert =^= The computer sounded. =^= Boarding parties on Decks 22,19 and 4 =^=
"The Darkhawk is dropping out of warp!" Ko'Vor yelled. "As is the second Cube!"
"Security teams to intruder locations, you are going to have to break lock down." Malachi turned to Ko'Vor. "You have Command Commander." And he entered the Turbolift before Ko'Vor could argue.
"Deck 3." He ordered.

"However, I can assure you that this Station will be fully prepared for another attack, of any kind. She fared up well in our first conflict with our attackers, and I see no reason why she shouldn't again. The attackers in question are a species that go by the name of the Metrons, they belong to the Political Group the Metron Consortium."
Yes, the klingons have gathered extensive information over the last 100 years of there abilities and strengths. if you need any help with them I can get you any info that may be helpful if I am allowed to access my klingon archives. I hadn’t realised you knew of them. one of our armadas was destroyed by them over 100 years ago, hence the information gathering.
"Indeed, you know your history. Do you know how much involvement the Klingon Empire has had with the Metrons? We are literally two hours away from Empire space. Has any contact or conflict ever been recorded?"
'We sent a squad to destroy the federation many years ago, this was when you were sworn enemies. One of my ancestors was on one of those ships. out of 21 ships only 2 returned after we were caught off guard by a technologically superior race. if we hadn’t been, you wouldn’t be here today.' Ko'Vor stopped. he was pleased the federation were here, yet he was too proud to admit an oversight on the klingons part all those years ago. 'since then we have gathered much knowledge and have been preparing to grab back our honour from that lost battle, and show them klingons will not forget.'
Ko'Vor was interrupted, the Darkhawk was acting strange. A com came through and Ko'VOr overheard through the conversation that the borg were also now in the area. 'that will complicate matters' he thought. but at the same time he hoped for another chance to prove himself in battle.
turning to the captain he was about to offer some advice, but seeing the expression on Malachi’s face he decided there was enough going through his head at this time.
Suddenly the station was hit, Ko'Vor stumbled, then instantly returned to a control panel as the lock down hadn’t been completed yet.' AHHRR' he shouted and hitting the panel as he saw the incoming information.
"They'll die..." Muttered Caspian. "It's happening again..."
'Captain!?' Ko'vor shouted, he couldn’t make sense of what he had heard. what did Caspian mean? had the federation tried to come to this area before? there was no time to think of it now, too much was going on. confused and hurried Ko'Vor started shouting orders. then orders were shouted back at him, the command deck were evacuating, along with many others. "Ko'Vor, I gave the order to evacuate." Caspian repeated. 'I will not be going sir, my place is here, with my captain.' he said boldly. "Last chance." Malachi said turning to Ko'Vor. 'NO, sir. It would be cowerdess to run now. i would much rather fight. I would much rather.. help. perhaps today is a good day to die. K'PLA!' he ended up by shouting.
looking down at a sea of blinking lights Ko'Vor deciphered the information he was being asked for, then he tried to optimise the situation by re-directing power to different places to give the station a bit more of a chance. So little time to think, so much information to take in.
"You have Command Commander."
A rush of blood and adrenaline went through him. here was his chance. The captain left and he instantly took over.
'computer lay down covery fire, let the darkhawk get within a safe distance so we can co-ordinate our attack' then turningto the door he saw the comm and tacticle officers come back onto the deck 'what are you doing here?' he growled 'one person cant run the command, sir' the comm officer said 'have we got communications yet?' 'No sir, there still locked down' 'Purge the system and re-boot, we need to inform the darkhawk to co-ordinate with us, and we may need transporters, get them back ASAP' 'eye' the officer said, sweating at the thought of perhaps breaking some key systems to get the ones needed back online. 'Fire in the same positions on the cube as before, hopefully the week points are similar.' turning to the other ensign 'Reinforce shields to forward sections, we need to be sure the borg don’t break through. 'SIR! I have comm!' the ensign said excitedly 'quickly get a message to the darkhawk, we need to work together!' 'the cube is at 60% efficianty' 'Keep firing!'
<tag Kirk>
'ko'Vor to Caspian, we have the comm back, we are also looking into transporters. weapons are still all out firing, but we will overheat if something further isn’t done soon.
<tag caspain>
Its not looking good sir, the…' Another huge judder sent several crew flying, Ko’Vor even fell, the command deck lay in ruins, there wasn’t a bulkhead that was still in place. Grabbing hold of the panel again Ko’Vor pulled himself up and moved to tactical. Firing all he could he realised it may not be enough. Shouting klingon aubsinities he kept kitting the controlls. ‘Fire crews to command’ he shouted.
Another sharp jolt

Daya stood at his consul, the ship was heading back to the Deep Space Beta at maximum warp, the scans had indicated the warp core was holding. So far every thing was going good.
Daya ran scans to see if anything was in the way somehow, and his screened beeped at him. " what the...' he said then looked over the scan.
"Sir, we have a Borg cube on our six, coming in at warp 9.5" Daya looked up at his captain, who seemed to grow pale.
"sir, ETA to Beta, approximately 3 minutes."
<Kirk>
The Borg ship was closing in on the DarkHawk, as Daya looked at his team. Most of them were young, a few were veterans in the field of battle. They all had scared faces on them.
The DarkHawk arrived just moments after the star base was attacked. "Captain, Deep Space Beta has a hull breach, Section A has been evacuated except for a few life signs. There is trouble sir"
<kirk>
"Captain, reading Borg life signs on decks 4 , 19, and 22. Beta security has engaged the Borg. Sir, permission to board Deep Space Beta"
"What?!" Kirk yelled at him, " denied, its too dangerous"
"Sir, with all do respect, I disagree. I'm going"
Kirk lowered his head, he knew his friend was going over, nothing he said would stop him
<kirk>
"Sir, we wanna go to" Daya looked at his team, the 6 personnel all nodded to one another and stepped forward, " Sir?"
Daya's teams soon arrived at the shuttle bay and were settled in, when Captain Kirks voice rang over the intercom. "Kirk to Daya, good luck, and come home"
The shuttle left shuttle bay 4 and zipped out across space, towards Deep Space Beta. Half way, a Lt. next to him informed him of some company. " Sir, a Borg shuttle is making a course for our shuttle."
Daya smiled, finally he would be able to use his new maneuvering program. "Computer, initiate Daya alpha alpha 4"
The shuttle's speed rose that of just below warp 1, and started to zig zag across space. The Borg shuttle, tried to fire at Daya's, but continued to miss. Daya's shuttle sped over the Borg shuttle, and then flew under it, firing its phaser as the engine core, destroying the Borg Shuttle.
Daya's team was cheering on the inside, as he took back control and went towards the shuttle bay of the DSB. ******
Moments later, Daya stood on Deck 4, his team behind him, and two security teams engaged with the Borg ahead of him. "Move out, set phaser to kill, fire on sight"
Daya changed his rifle setting to kill, and put it up against his shoulder. He walked down the corridor, heading towards the life signs of 4 people, and 8 Borg.
taking a left at the first chance, Daya spotted the body of a security Ensign, he had been assimilated, but still have some of his Independence with him. "Sir, help me" He called out, grabbing on to Daya's leg pant. Daya closed his eyes, and fired his rifle, hitting the ensign in the chest.
" Any others like this, kill them. It will stop them from becoming....." Daya didn't need to finish his sentence. Daya's team kept going down the passage, and arrived at the sight of a fire fight, his team immediately started firing at the 8 Borg, who dropped as they walked.
"Sir, its good to see you, our commander was killed when we arrived, your got us now" Daya nodded. "Follow me, we are gonna clear this deck, then move on to the others"
Daya's new team, headed down another corridor, and stepped back as 10 Borg turned the corner, the closest one grabbed Daya by his neck, and lifted him off the ground. Daya struggled in the Borg's grasp, and felt his body going limp from lack of breath. He fumbled for his phaser, and pulled it out, firing at the Borg's chest.
Daya fell and was pulled back by two of his team, the others were shooting at they backed away. Daya gasped for breath, and looked on in horror, as more Borg appeared behind his team......
=^= Daya to Kirk=^= Daya managed to press his comm badge, and continued to gasp for air. <tag Kirk> =^= I'm sorry....=^= Daya's comm was cut off as his life sign faded from the scans

Post by Lorian Smith on Sept 10, 2005 22:31:45 GMT -5
This was the exact predicament that Lorian hated. He knew that they would be going into battle shortly. Hopefully he was wrong, but then his gut instincts usually weren't.
"Sir, we have a Borg cube on our six, coming in at warp 9.5" Daya looked up at his captain, who seemed to grow pale.
"sir, ETA to Beta, approximately 3 minutes." d**n Lorian thought to himself this was it.
"Battle stations." Captain Kirk said as he got out of his chair. Then it came. Lorian saw the face of evil again and he didn't like. The green glow of the cube engulfed the tiny Darkhawk. The volley's came and they were being hit hard.
"Return fire." Captain Kirk and Lorian said at the exact same time. The photon torpedoes were sent away and Lorian already knew the report would be.
"No damage" Lorian quickly made his way to wards tactical. He had been a tactical officer on the Black Lily and he had experience with the Borg.
As soon as he reached the station, he realized that someone had reported that DSB was under heavy attack from another Borg cube.
"Captain we need to protect DSB," Lorian said knowing that that would leave them defenseless from the other cube.
"I know," Captain Kirk said. Daya then started to speak, Lorian knew what he was going to say and do.
I'm going"
Kirk lowered his head, he knew his friend was going over, nothing he said would stop him. Lorian wanted to stop his him, but realized that if the his Captain and friend couldn't convince him neither could he. Lorian took over tactical and started to concentrate on attacking the second cube.
Lorian then saw that the station was ordering the drones to ram the Cube on the same spot one after the other. Lorian joined them in the attack. He fired a volley of quantum torpedoes into the weakened Borg shielding The plan worked the cube exploded a couple of seconds later. Lorian then went back to there attacking ship, but before he could return fire the Borg attacked.
The Darkhawk shook violently and people on the bridge flew out of their stations. Conduits and consoles exploded a blaze of sparks and fire. The Lt. that was working the science station was now next to Lorian, his body charred out of recognition. Lorian said a quick prayer for him, got up and went back to work. This time he let out everything they had, but he made sure to change the harmonics of the weapons to 33.432 megacochranes. He fired the phaser first on the auxiliary multi-regenerative security fields generator. He knew that it was the tactical cubes weakest part of the ship. He then sent 75 of there anti-matter mines. Over half of them were destroyed by the Borg cube, but many of them reached it target. His station told him that the shield generator there had been weakened to 89%. this was there chance, so he hit the shields with a volley of 6 quantum torpedoes every 1.2 seconds.
His plan worked, but the ship was not disabled and it continued firing.
"Captain they have been weakened, but we need more firepower," Lorian said as he once again began to fire.

Captain they have been weakened, but we need more firepower," Lorian said as he once again began to fire.
"Number One, try and coordinate our attacks with the station."
<Tag Commander Smith>
"Bring us about Ensign. Commander launch heavy anti-matter mines." Kirk ordered.
The Darkhawk pulled hard up and over the Cube, at the same time Commander Smith launched as many of the mines as he could before they were out of range. Ensign Anderson brought the ship around of another attack run giving the bridge crew a view of the multitude of explosions of the front of the Cube.
"Fire at will." Kirk ordered.
All four forward firing torpedo tubes launched a full spread of Quantum torpedoes, matched with all six pulse cannons blazing at the Cube mid section. There was an enormous explosion in front and to the port side of the Darkhawk as the lead Cube had exploded from the defensive attacks of the station and all fired Quantum torpedoes found their mark.
"Tactical status of the remaining Cube?"
"Sir the Cube is still at 85% hull integrity and it's regenerating fast."
The Darkhawk was suddenly ravaged as several cutting beams and high energy torpedoes slammed into the main hull section sending all the bridge crew members to the floor.
"Evasive maneuvers!" Kirk yelled as he got up off the floor, "Damage report!"
"Shields down to 23%, hull integrity down to 85%."
"Re-enforce the shields, take any and all available power to do it." Kirk said not wanting to test out the new Xentronium Armor.
"Sir the USS Razorback has entered the system."
"On screen." Kirk said.
The screen split in half to show the Akira Class star ship enter the system followed closely by two more Borg ships, both of the spheres.
"Ensign set course to intercept the Razorback."
Just as Kirk finished what he was saying the Razorback exploded from several precise shots from the two attacking spheres. The bridge went silent as all hope seemed to be lost with the destruction of a ship that was supposed to be their re-enforcement. The crew was brought roughly back to reality as the Cube again began it's relentless attack. The ship took as several more shots struck the back of the shields.
"Sir shields down to 11%, we wont have shields in a few more minutes."
"Fire rear torpedoes!" Kirk ordered.
Several Quantum Torpedoes launched from the rear of the Darkhawk as he continued to try and out maneuver the rapidly firing Cube. The shots were wild only two struck the Cube in mid section of the ship causing minimal damage.
"Bring us into the shield bubble of the station, we can use their shields while we try and restore ours."
"Aye sir." Ensign Anderson replied as she began plotting a new course to take the ship in closer to the station.
"The spheres will be in weapons range in 5 minutes." Commander Smith said informing the crew.
The Darkhawk entered the protection of the station, she quickly turned around to face the Cube head on again.
"All stop." Kirk ordered.
"Captain I now have communication link with the station we are now able to triangulate our attack." Smith informed.
"About time," Kirk said standing up from his chair, "Target main power."
Smith quickly went over this console to target the requested system and triangulate it with the officer on the station.
"System targeted." Smith said.
"Fire!" Kirk ordered.
The station's rotating gun platforms began to rip into the Cube, several high powered phasers shot out form the station striking several different systems on the Cube. The Darkhawk let loose firing it's pulse cannons and top phaser banks at the desired target. Smith launched the Quantum torpedoes on time with the stations officer. The surrounding space was blanketed in a bright blue white wash of light as the torpedo's traveled to their marks.
The hundreds of explosions was nearly blinding as the front face of the Cube began disappear in those flashes or light. The Darkhawk launched another series of attack on smaller sub systems while the station continued it's attack on various systems as well. With in seconds of the combined attack the Cube was destroyed.
There was a moment of silence as the crew watched the Cube explode in a flash of brilliant green light. The explosion caused large pieces of debris to smash into the stations shields causing major damage to the stations already weakened shields. Several larger pieces smashed through the shields striking the idle Darkhawk
"Damage report!" Kirk yelled.
"Shield are down, hull integrity down to 55%, life support is heavily damaged, adjusting emergency power to compensate." Smith informed Kirk.
"Captain, Warp power is offline. The Starboard nacelle was heavily damaged by debris," Lieutenant Mathews called out, "I am reading heavy Thelaron Radiation all around us also."
"Not now." Kirk said getting up out of his chair, "How far are the Spheres?"
"They will be in attack range in 3 minutes. Both the station and the Darkhawk wont service the attack." Commander Smith said coldly.
"Open a channel to the station."
"Channel open sir." Ensign Anderson replied.
"Capsian, this is Kirk. How are you holding up?" Kirk asked.
<Tag Caspian>
"We're not doing any better Captain."
"Sir, 6 ships decloaking. They are very large ships, unknown class." Ensign Anderson reported interrupting Kirk's hail to Caspian.
The 6 ships were massive ships, each one of them approximately the size of a Galaxy Class starship. They had formed in a defensive position around the station and the Darkhawk.
"I guess they are on our side." Kirk said to Caspian, "Let's finish this and find out who our heroes are. Kirk out."
"Commander, target the lead Sphere. Fire at will when they come into range."

Ko'Vor tried to get back up. ingured and loosing blood he only had his owrrior instincts to keep him up. he made a torniquet for his leg and bounded his chest.
the computer had successfully co-ordinated its attack with the darkhawk. another cube had been destroyed, but now there were other problems.
a sea of unidentified ships had arrived. they registered on the sensors to have similar traits to the attackers from earlier. 'what are they doing?' Ko'Vor muttered. 'Ensign are you ok?' there was no response, the ensign had a large pole stuck into the back of her head. she was dead.
'Computer, status?' the computer replied, but the systems were damaged, only some of the gamble of words made sense.
'comm syteeeeeeem down, defence droids are ddddd-own one more cube and 2 spheeeeeee- are on the perimiter. we, we ,we, we, we have 24% shielding left. the Darkhawk is currently inside our shield bub-b-b-b-ble. energy reserves are depleted.'
'computer identify the new ships on our perimiter' 'u-u-un- unknown, they are producing high levels of Thelaron Radiation and have similar readings to Met-t-t.*** ships....' the computer went dead. for now though there seemed to be a lack of fighting. the borg were making sense of the new information, weighing up there options and chances of success with the new ships.
re-routing some of the systems Ko'VOr gets back minimal communications.
'Ko'Vor to Malachi, we are surrounded by what I believe to be a metron fleet, although they seem to be defending us. And the sensors are so shot that I cant make an exact guess who they are. I don’t know what there game is, but I think we should accept there help.'
<tag Caspian>
'yes sir, I will try to establish com. also sir the borg have currently ceased fire, we should make the use of the time to do as much repair as possible'
No longer than it took for the comm to close again did the attack start again, the borg wanted some new technology, they weren’t going to let it go. sensors showed another 2 transwarp hubbs opening.
'No, no more' Ko'Vor spitted.
He moved back to tactical and continued firing. the new ships had not yet fired though, they just sat there, no weapons armed, no shields up.
'Fire then!' Ko'Vor shouted as if they'd hear him. But they seemed to do just that, they suddenly armed and as if in a wave of thought fired massive amounts in massive volleys.
Ko'vor laid down as much fire as he could too, concentrating it on one ship at a time. the darkhawk was also looking more lively again, but it stayed inside the shield bubble.

Malachi stormed along Deck 3, he had removed his uniform jacket and had stapped two phasers to his sides. In his right hand, a new model Phaser Rifle sat, patiently waiting for its chance to shine.
Malachi blew open the access hatch in the floor with the Rifle and dropped down to the deck below. It was a horrific site. The Borg had already assimilated most of what was in site. Malachi began to run along the corrider, trying to find the security teams.
He stopped and turned as he felt something move behind.
Six drones faced him, slowly walking towards him, Malachi slung the Rifle on his back and withdrew both phasers from their holsters, a phaser in each hand he began to fire. Each drone fell to the floor slowly, the whirring of the mechanicisms informing Malachi he had succesfully stopped them... however he knew there would be more.
=^= ko'Vor to Caspian, we have the comm back, we are also looking into transporters. Weapons are still all out firing, but we will overheat if something further isn’t done soon =^=
"Ko'vor, it is imperative that you do not activate comms! I repeat comms must not be acitvated!" Malachi exclaimed, he was beginning to panic.
Caspian didn't hear his FO's response as the Starbase rocked again, he spun round just in time to see a Drone reaching out with the fearful nano-probe injectors. Malachi quickly ducked and swore, he swung the Rifle of his back and hacked at the drone's legs, it collapsed and Malachi cried out in anger loudly fired point black on the drone's head which incinerated immediately.
He continued on his way through Deck 4, knowing he was fighting a losing battle.
"Captain..." He heard someone groan, Malachi looked down to the floor and saw a young warrant officer in a security uniform on the floor, his face grey and signs of metalic patches appearing.
"I'm sorry." He said, pointing the Rifle and firing.
=^= Capsian, this is Kirk. How are you holding up? =^= Kirk asked.
"Damn it!" Malachi yelled. This meant that comms were back online. That damn Klingon! "It's not looking good Captain." Malachi replied, the Starbase rocked violently again. "The Borg have assimilated at least Deck 4 on Section A... I've lost contact with command and the security teams. Section B has had emergency power diverted to it."
Malachi didn't hear the other Captain's response as the Starbase rocked yet again and an explosion close to him sent him flying.
=^= War... Warni... War.... Warning.... Huuuuuuuuuuuu.... Hulllllll... Br.... Br.... Bre..... Bre =^=
Malachi got the general gist of what the computer was saying but it also gave him an idea. He quickly picked himself up from the floor and began to run towards the nearest airlock control.
Two more drones turned a corner, equipped with phasers. He had never seen this before... He ducked as the two drones fired at the same time, as he jumped to his feet he pulled out the Rifle and knocked one drone on the head, pulling out the cortical wires at the back of it's skull, it fell to the floor immediately. Malachi then swung round and opened fire on the second drone.
"Crap!" He yelled. It had adapted. He began to modulate the frequency however the drone was advancing, phaser aimed at Malachi's chest.
There was a flash of colour and the drone fell to its feet.
Caspian ran over to the officer who had fired, he had been assimilated and the transformation to Borg had already begun. Malachi tried to smile and comfort the fallen officer as he fired into the mans head. He would make sure that all those who had fallen this day would not be forgotten.
He made it to the airlock control and swore violently when the computer didn't respond. He began to work on the manual release as the Starbase rocked again.

The airlocks on Deck 4 blew open forcefully and Malachi held on for his life, drones flew passed him into the open air and into the chaotic battle that ensued outside. Malachi reached forward and pressed the seal button, the whoosing of open space stopped and Malachi collapsed to his knees gasping for breath. The Starbase shook again, all he could hear was the battle outside and the alarms that sounded across the station.
He tapped his comm badge opening a channel to what he hoped was Command. "Deck 4 has been cleared." He wheezed into the comm. " I am proceeding to Deck 19 now." He closed the comm before anyone could respond and stood to his feet. He dropped the useless weapons to the floor. He wasn't going to win this with them...

"Number One, try and coordinate our attacks with the station."
"Aye sir," Lorian said as he tried to communicate with he starbase, but it seemed that the communications were down. The worst part was that he couldn't give that the most attention. He still had to fire at the cube. The battle was clearly going in the Borgs favor. The attack from the Darkhawk was clearly not enough.
Then a ray of hope came the USS Razorback had entered the system. Lorian thought that it was a good sign, but saw that two Borg spheres were right on their tail.
"Ensign set course to intercept the Razorback." As soon as the captain gave the order. The spheres fired a volley of torpedoes at the Razorback and in the next instant the proud Akira ship was no more. There was a eerie silence on the ship that was violently interrupted by the Borg attack. Worse news was that there were now three Borg ships against one defiant and a heavily damaged starbase.
"The spheres will be in weapons range in 5 minutes." Lorian said sadly. The Darkhawk then made a V-line to wards the starbase hoping that it could offer some cover.
Then some good news, communications with the Star base was established.
"Captain I now have communication link with the station we are now able to triangulate our attack." Lorian informed.
"About time," Kirk said standing up from his chair, "Target main power."
Lorian quickly went over to the targeting array and targeted the requested system and triangulate it with the officer on the station.
"System targeted." Smith said.
"Fire!" Kirk ordered.
The ensuing fire display could of rivaled that of the Battle for Deep Space Nine. The rotating guns of the base continued to abuse and torture the Borgs shields. Lorian then quickly joined in the fun and fired the Darkhawk's pulse cannons and quantum torpedoes. The light was so blinding that Lorian had to cover his eyes, the blue light engulfed the bridge and a moment of complete silence followed. They still didn't know if the cube was gone.
When the light dispersed, the officers on the Darkhawk tried to react, but found that it was to late. The debris from the cube just came coming and hit the station and ship hard. Consoles that were barely working were now offline or on fire.
"Repair teams report to bridge." Lorian ordered.
Both the station and the Darkhawk wont survive the attack." Lorian said. The thelaron radiation then peaked for a couple of seconds and then out of nowhere six enormous ships surrounded the base and the Darkhawk in a defensive position.
"Commander, target the lead Sphere. Fire at will when they come into range."
"Aye sir," Lorian said. Lorian quickly contacted the tactical officer on the DSB and told him to change the frequency of the weapons, by now they had already adapted to the attack.
They were ready, the Darkhawk and DSB were at full attention, Lorian's finger pressed on fire.
"The spheres are in firing range in 5-4-3-..." Lorian could not finish the countdown, because the six ships that were there protecting them fired. Lorian knew that the weapons were thelaron based, but at that moment he didn't care. The sphere exploded quickly. it was the fastest battle he had ever seen involving the Borg loosing.
There was a moment of silence as they realized what had just happened to the Borg. The first person to speak had to be Lorian, who knew what the Captain was going to ask.
"Captain their weapons are thelaron based, and there not responding to hails," Lorian informed.
"Okay stay at Red Alert." Captain Kirk ordered. Lorian wouldn't have it another way. The Battle for Deep Space Beta had been won, but it had caused the lives of the crew of the USS Razorback, most likely the USS LionHeart, both construction crews, and many people on DSB and the Darkhawk. It didn't feel like a win, but they had survived.
"Captain DSB is hailing," Lorian informed his caption.

Ko'Vor managed to get a faint transmission through to the darkhawk, it was answered. 'Ko'vor to Darkhawk, well done. I hope you didn’t suffer too many losses. here on the other hand , well there still being counted. and there are still Borg on some decks.' the transmission fuzzed, ko'vor had to direct more power, this time from weapons. 'the ships surrounding us wont answer our hails, have you had more luck?
<tag: darkhawk member>
‘I see, keep trying, if they decide to attack us we will be dead before giving the order to fire. It would be better if we established a dialogue. also, captain, I need you to back me up, I broke orders by opening communications. I had to because if we hadn't co-ordinated our fire we would all be dead. I’m not sure if my captain will see it that way though, will you help?'
<tag Kirk>
'one last thing, any crew you can spare we need here, if we don’t get systems back soon there could still be chance of a complete hull buckling, destroying the station. and although I may usually be the last to admit it....we need this station. both our empires. Can you spare anyone?'
<tag: Kirk>
'Understood, keep me updated, no one else on command is alive, I am all that is left up here, I don’t know if Malachi is ok. and I need medical assistance at some point, but see to everyone else first. Ko'Vor out'
After the transmission was closed Ko'Vor fell to his side onto the flood. everything around him started spinning, even a klingon loaded with adrenaline and a strong sense of honour couldn’t keep standing with no blood. 'AArrhh' he groaned.
trying to pull himself up he was on the sensors that the new ships had turned to face the station. 'is this actually it?' he thought. glancing at a panel he saw there was no power in the weapons, shields were dead, and the hull was continuing to deteriorate. 'Maybe today Stovorkor will accept me, but i wont go without a fight!'
but through all his honourable thoughts he forgot one thing. he had no fight left in him. a large piece of bulkhead petruded from his side, a gash was eminating from his stomach and he was also battered from all the knocks the station took. as soon as he reached for the panned to fire weapons he fell backwards and hit the deck.

'the ships surrounding us wont answer our hails, have you had more luck?
"I am sorry Commander but we have been unable to contact them as well."
"Of course Commander. We both know if you had not opened communications we both probably wouldn't be here right now.
'one last thing, any crew you can spare we need here, if we don’t get systems back soon there could still be chance of a complete hull buckling, destroying the station. and although I may usually be the last to admit it....we need this station. both our empires. Can you spare anyone?'
"I wish I could say for sure. Right now we are just starting to count the casualties. We will continue to monitor your hull status, and as soon as I find out how many of my engineers we can send they will be on their way."
'Understood, keep me updated, no one else on command is alive, I am all that is left up here, I don’t know if Malachi is ok. and I need medical assistance at some point, but see to everyone else first. Ko'Vor out'
The view screen went black and Kirk turned to face his battered crew. They had survived this battle, and it seemed they would not survive the next. The Metron's stood silently in space watching to see what the Federation would do.
Kirk tapped his COM badge. "Kirk to McLean."
Nothing came back except silence.
Kirk tried again, "Lt. Commander McLean, repsond."
A few moments went by before he heard the Commander voice, "McLean here Captain."
Kirk took a deep breath as he was relieved to hear the voice of his Chief Engineer.
"Commander, I need you to spare as many engineers as you possibly can. The station is in worst shape then we are. I want you to assemble a team and head over to the station to begin to restore hull integrity."
<Tag Lt. Commander McLean>
"Numer One, I want you to take the EMH and his mobile emitter over to the station. Beam directly into the Command Center and help out Command Ko'Vor. Once you have got him beam him to sickbay over here. Your main goal is to try and save as many inured or assimilated crew members as you possibly can."
"Aye sir." Smith replied.
Kirk began to think about Daya's last words to him. He had not gotten the chance to think about what might have happened to his long time friend, but it was now sinking in.
"Commander," Kirk said as he watched Smith turn around, "Try and find Commander Daya is possible."

"Lieutenant Mathews, you have the brige." Kirk said leaving the bridge to head into his ready room.

Daya's body had somehow managed to get itself stuck behind a console, so when The airlock was opened, his body had not moved. He was not dead, nor assimilated, his comm badge had been smashed by a phaser shot he took to his chest, which knocked him out, almost killing him.
Appearently the Borg had no interest in his "dead" body, so they left him. His team had all been assimilated, and one had managed to help Malachi.
Daya's mind was lost to himself, he would not awake in a more than few days, so nothing could be done, except to find a way to bring his mind back to him.

"Commander, I need you to spare as many engineers as you possibly can. The station is in worst shape then we are. I want you to assemble a team and head over to the station to begin to restore hull integrity."
"Aye sir," Scott said, "Captain, could you send down Lieutenant Mathews down to engineering? I want him to take charge down here while I am on board the station."
"He's on his way Chief." Kirk replied.
Scott walked around to the nearest console. He had to check the rough casualty list to see how many engineers were injured in the battle. He then opened a ship wide com channel.
"Engineering team Alpha report to transporter room one, team Beta report to transporter room 2." Scott said over the ship wide channel.
After a few minutes Scott reported to transporter room one. He was happy to find all his alpha team members were alive and well. They had shown they could preform under pressure, and Scott know that ability was going to come in good use over on the station.
"Listen up people," Scott said as he entered the room, "We don't have much time so I will just get to the point. This station is not going to survive unless we can restore power to the emergency internal hull integrity grid. Both teams are beaming in to highly damaged areas and there is a chance we might encounter the Borg. You all know what to do, make me proud."
Scott gabbed his tool box and stood on the number one spot of the transporter pad. He was quickly followed by three other crew members.
"Energize." Scott said to the transporter operator.
