"I am most impressed with the crew. Since this has been her first battle, the crew has responded well under the circumstances. As it stands right now we have 15 dead, 25 seriously wounded. I am currently missing 13 crew members, I can only assume they are either alright or on one of your lists," Kirk said walking over to the port hole in Caspian's office, "The Darkhawk requires heavy repairs to her starboard nacelle, as well as repairs done to the hull. It looks like we are not going to be exploring any time soon," Kirk continued looking out the window, "As for myself, well I can tell you this day will live with me for the rest of my life." Kirk finished looking back at Caspian.
Kirk walked slowly back to face Caspian. He could tell his fellow Captain had alot on his mind, he seemed distant, and abnormally quiet.
"Malachi, we are a good officer and I was wrong to judge you based on how things got started between us. I just wanted to inform you that I am going to be giving you high praise in my report back to Starfleet."

After Kirk and Caspian finished speaking Kirk exited Caspian's office to speak with Commander McLean on the Command Deck. Once on the Command Deck Kirk spotted McLean alone at one of the farthest stations on the bridge.
"Commander," Kirk said, "How are things coming on the station?"

"How soon do you suspect you will be done?"
<McLean>
"Understood. Keep up the good work Commander." Kirk said leaving McLean to his work.
"Kirk to Commander Smith"

"How is everything going?" Kirk asked.

Malachi listened intently to Kirk. He had definately judged his counterpart to soon. The way he spoke of the last few days really portrayed the true Kirk. There were still going to be some problems, Caspian wasn't naive enough to think otherwise, but the relationship between the two Officers was looking to be on the up...
"Malachi, we are a good officer and I was wrong to judge you based on how things got started between us. I just wanted to inform you that I am going to be giving you high praise in my report back to Starfleet."
Malachi offered a genuine smile and a handshake.
"The feeling is mutual, Sir." He said.
Kirk left and Malachi sat down at his desk. He picked up the first padd and read the first name.
Karl Greensburg
He punched the name into his computer and the young officers personnel file appeared on the screen.
Malachi began to read...

"Kirk to Commander Smith"
"Smith here Captain"
"How is everything going?" Kirk asked. Lorian really didn't like the question. This was the worst day of his life, Lorian knew that the possibility of a thousand people dead was not an understatement. Add the Razorback and Lion Heart and the two construction sites, Lorian knew that the number was closer to 2,000. The borg was a plague that could never be defeated and that was why the Metron's meant so much for the Federation.
"Captain can you hold a second?" Lorian said not really waiting for a reply. The EMH had just notified him. It would of usually have been Doctor Morgan, but Lorian had just found out that she had been killed in the first attack. The young officer had so much promise, Lorian thought. Four more critical patients had just passed. The doctor had chosen to save another critical patient and in that time the others had passed. Lorian closed his eyes trying not to show his emotion to the rest of the bridge crew.
"Thank you doctor"
"Sorry about that Captian, we have just lost four more crewman" Lorian said sadly. There wasn't a quickly response from the Captain. Lorian knew that the Captain would aslo have to supress his feelings right now. His crew were dieing and there wasn't anything he could do about it. This day did show Lorian the might and greatness of his crew. Lorian first and foremost would always respect Captain Kirk. They had not served long together, but Lorian would gladly take a bullet for him. The rest of the crew did a wonderful job to, if it wasn't for Ensign Anderson, the Metron truce would never of happened. I have to make sure to put that in my report Lorian thought.
"Captain we have just confirmed the destruction of the Lion Heart, I'm sad to report that means that 450 Starfleet personal and civilians are confirmed dead, and we can presume that the contruction crew has also perished which includes 130 more engineers. That means the total of dead from both ships and sites comes up to 1,260"
Everyone heard this report on the bridge and everyone was shocked at the number. The Razorback had a large crew, 550, this had been the worst borg attack since Wolf 359.
"Anything else?" Captain Kirk asked. Lorian could clearly hear the pain in his voice. Lorian made his way towards the captain's ready room to finish the conversation in private.
"Captain I have just been informed that three nebula class ships have already been sent and two defiants are a few hours after them," Lorian said.
"Okay, is that it?" he asked again.
"Yes sir, one more. How are you sir?"

~I saw the blood that was shed and the possibility that there could have been more. So I will say one more time Commander, you are dismissed."
Ko'Vor had a general look of sadness on his battle scarred face. no only was he dishonoured, but also appalled that caspain thought this way of him. Inside his head his brain crammed outwards, his skin heated, he knew he was feeling what klingons felt before they were to make a kill. He had no choice but to turn and very quickly walk out of the room.
On the command deck he collapsed onto the floor, using his hands as stoppers from falling flat on his face, then looking into the floor he Screamed extremely loudly incomprehensible words. the room almost seemed to vibrate. He was So angry, and So disappointed he wanted to curl up and die right there. a bloodlust had been created inside him.
Slowly he got up and tried to walk towards the turbo lift, but he could not see or think straight, and was stumbling everywhere. He just had a voice inside screaming the death counts back at him. taunting his klingon morals and breaking down all he ever respected of himself. he was destroying himself from the inside.
Taking out a dagger he plunged it into a nearby wall, a sign that he may be leaving, but his threat remained. and would haunt whoever was on the other end of it. another ritual used in times of disgrace. Ko'Vor looked at it for a moment. then continued walking towards the door.
Stopping for a moment He heard Caspian leave his office. Ko'Vor spun around, arms flopped by his sides, red filled his eyes and he had a great desire to remove Caspains heart. he held back though. and luckily his attention was again broken by the entering of Kirk.
he seemed pleased to see Ko'Vor and complemented his actions greatly. At least he could see Ko'Vor was trying his best. and from his point of view, doing well. I always liked you, you knew how to show respect. he thought as he looked into kirks eyes.
"Commander, what is the current battle condition of the station?" he asked.
Ko'Vor broke from his fury to answer. "power to phasors is at 43%. We have not yet got photon or Quantum torpedoes working again. all support droids are depleted. BUT on the lighter side the Borg seem to have been completely extinguished. that is all I know'
Kirk was pleased to hear there was some good news.
'Now though sir I must depart. I have been relieved of my duties as first officer, and am sad to say I am ordered to leave with my fleet within the next few hours. I hope to meet you again, but for now, goodbye.'
Ko'Vor walked elegantly out of the room and went to his office. he stopped in the doorway and then ran into the room and going around it punched and broke all the screens, pads and items that showed any signs of life from the battle. after a few things were cleared up he dragged himself and his items to the transporter room where he quickly left the station. on board his ship again he ordered the fleet to de-cloak.
The other 3 ships had arrived, and they were huge. there hulls were not able to be scanned, but from visual analysis there were what seemed to be a new type of torpedo tube, and many secondary weapons. anything else that could be observed vastly moved on as the fleet didn’t hang around.
The ships glided off, on DSB there was no sound, no one had noticed the fleet leaving except caspain, and apart from that only the sensors documented there departure.
'Destination: Qro'nos, lay in a course.' Ko'Vor said.

'Now though sir I must depart. I have been relieved of my duties as first officer, and am sad to say I am ordered to leave with my fleet within the next few hours. I hope to meet you again, but for now, goodbye.'
"I am sorry to hear that Ko'Vor. Your a good officer," Kirk said extending out his arm grasping Ko'Vor by the forearm in a traditional Klingon shake, "Ka'Plah." Kirk said before letting go of the officer and walking him walk out of the room.
After Kirk's quick briefing with Commander McLean he made his way back down to the Darkhawk and to the comforts of his own ready room. Kirk sat down in his chair in his ready room and tried to relax. Kirk had waited several minutes for Commander Smith to get back to Kirk about the status report.
After the conversation Kirk was surprised to watch Commander Smith come through the ready room doors. Just as Kirk thought the conversation was over Commander Smith asked one last question, "Yes sir, one more. How are you sir?"
Kirk was a little taken back by the question. It was not a common thing for a First Officer to care so much about the well being of his Captain, especially not a Captain so new to the First Officer.
Kirk leaned back in his chair, grabbing an old baseball off his desk. Before he answered he began to fidget with the baseball, spinning it in his hand, grabbing the ball in many different ways.
"I have to be honest Lorian I have been better," Kirk paused again playing with the baseball, "It is just, the lives lost today," Kirk did not know how to finish his sentence.

Kirk listened as he touched the Borg Ocular Implant just above his left eye brow. A reminder about a time of his life he wished he could forget, he was one of them, a killer. In the cybernetic implants with in his body stored the actual number of beings he had assimilated, lives he took, lives he wished he could give back.
"Commander join me in a drink," Kirk said getting up out of his chair and walking over to the replicator, "Two shots, Romulan Ale, alcoholic."
With in seconds two small glasses of blue Romulan Ale appeared with in the replicator. Kirk picked up both glasses, handing one to Commander Smith.
Holding the glass up to toast Kirk said, "To honor the lives lost today defending the Federation, this station, and our lives. We walked among heroes today and we shall never forget their sacrifices."
<Tag Commander Smith>
Kirk nodded and both officers quickly drank the small beverage, hoping in some way their next mission would be easier and the lives lost on this bloody day would help guide them in future missions.
...to boldly go where no one has gone before.

OCC: I would say that this wraps up our first mission! Great work from everybody! We should have a few days off to get to know one another and post on the progression of the ship and Stations repairs.
Feel free to tie up any loose ends with in the mission if you want to.

McLean tried not to listen to the conversation taking place just above him and his engineering team, but it was hard given the volume of each officers voice.
After a few minutes things seemed to calm down and Captain Kirk approached Commander McLean.
"Things are going better than expected sir," McLean replied, "I honestly cannot say for sure how long it will take. This station took a beating and we have alot of work to do."
McLean nodded back at the Captain before he started back to work under a broken station. Since the Captain brought it up, McLean started to think about the repair times some more.
Full work days, with all engineering teams working, maybe a few weeks. If Starfleet sends help we could be up and running with in a weeks time, McLean thought to himself as he continued to work under the station.
"How are things going crewman?" McLean asked.
"Looking good over here sir." She replied.
"Excellent work, from all of you," McLean said looking at his team, "Do not burn yourselves out, we have alot of work ahead of us."
The team nodded in reply, with a few saying simple, "Yes sir." They could not argue, this had become one of the most exciting posts in the galaxy. With any luck this station would soon be over run with eager engineers hoping to prove themselves.

=^= Command to Caspian =^=
"Go ahead." Malachi replied stretching.
=^= The aid ships have arrived and are requesting permission to dock. Also Commander Ko'Vor and his fleet have left the sector, Sir =^=
"Thank you, I am on my way." He stood to his feet and limped out onto the Command deck. McLean was no longer present, Malachi assumed that he had gone to assist on other areas of the Starbase. The only Officer present was a warrant Officer who Malachi had never seen before.
"Inform the Nebula Class vessels that they will have to transport over crew and supplies. Docking Port 3 is the only functioning port and the Darkhawk is currently docked there."
"Understood Sir."
Malachi sighed. Rebuilding the Starbase would take no time at all. Rebuilding the life was a whole different story...
