Background:
Rhea spent her childhood working and hiding away from the rest of her family. She dedicated herself to this, her work and was adamant that she would get a job that would make her parents proud. After acing high school, she received a scholarship for the University College London to read medicine.
University life suited Rhea well. She worked extremely hard all day, making sure that she knew the subject inside out, and her attendance and achievement were both rated top in the university. When she wasn’t working though, she knew how to enjoy herself, and let her hair down. She only frequented pubs and clubs that she knew wouldn’t have any other medical students or lecturers in, so that nobody would recognise her. In her third year, the final year of the dominion war, Rhea was lucky enough to find herself stationed on board the USS Tiger, a small akira class vessel running the Maui science project of nanotechnology and engineering.
In the final year of the war however, the USS Nightfall was conscripted to the front line to retrieve injured officers and prisoners of war. The crew spent almost seven months on the line snatching survivors from the hands of the enemy and ferrying convoys of evacuees, gaining both vital medical and battle experience at the same time. Once the war was over, Rhea returned to the Academy to continue her last two years of training. For their efforts on the frontline the entire crew received the Order of Alecto for services to Starfleet.
Once she had graduated the academy, Rhea joined Starbase Crimson as a house officer, where she became engaged to the Chief Medical Officer Charlie Ryane. After only an eight month relationship Rhea became pregnant with his child and broke off the relationship. To her surprise, after the child was born Charlie took a huge interest in him, and took on the care of his son when Rhea was promoted and assigned to the USS Imperium.
After the destruction of the Imperium by the Borg on Commander Jones’ first mission, the doctor was transferred to her sister ship the USS Nova to take the place of Chief Medical officer. After serving here for nearly three years Rhea was kidnapped by a Lethean army who used they’re mind controlling abilities to torture the woman while she was under their control.
Due to injuries sustained trying to escape, Rhea suffered a brain haemorrhage whilst a Lethean mind reader was inside her head. When she was finally revived back on board the Nova, she discovered that the psyche of her attacker had somehow remained inside her mind when she had died, although his body had not survived.
Rhea took leave from Starfleet for a few months to recuperate from her ordeal, and came to grips with his being that was living inside her. On her first mission back, she saw that Ripper, as she had named him, had his uses, and he managed to help save them from a Romulan attack. However, to most of Starfleet, he is still secret, although Rhea found it impossible to hide him from her new crew on the Troy, especially with her younger brother is serving alongside her.
After nearly an eighteen month term on board the USS Troy, Rhea and her brother went their separate ways once again, when the Chief medical officer was offered a promotion to Lt Commander and a position on board the Defiant class USS Darkhawk. Taking an early leave from the Troy, Rhea spent three months on board Deep Space Beta with her son Joe and his father. To her surprise, Joe was showing an enormous interest in Starfleet, and it was decided that he would spend some time staying with her on board the ship for the time being.
Medical Record:
After blowing herself up whilst trying to save the USS Nova, Rhea’s face is badly scarred from plasma burns that couldn’t be repaired. Stemming from the same explosion Rhea also lost most of the skin and flesh off her fingers on her right hand, although she still has most of the use left. After dying at the hands of insane Lethean Regent Je on the USS Free Spirit, Rhea has had quite a clean medical record, much of which she owes to the help of Ripper.
Personality:
Despite the fact that Rhea’s mind plays host to a lethean psyche, she tends to be very competent and a capable officer; indeed, with the help of Ripper Rhea often finds that her senses are heightened to the world around her, both inside and out of a professional aspect. She is laid back most of the time and runs quite an informal sickbay, but when it is called for her leadership skills will prevail to get herself, and her ship out of a tricky situation.
Interests:
Rhea’s main interest is science and medicine and she can always be found reading up on some new development in the medical world. Outside of her work interests Rhea likes to read anything she can get her hands on and is quite a creative writer. If she ever visits the holodeck, it will defiantly be to relax, perhaps watching a film or a play.
Additional:
Rhea has an excellent bedside manner with her patients. She will sometimes be cheeky and flirtatious, although since being reunited with her son she has changed considerably.
